The Magua Taekwon-Do clubs are a dynamic martial arts club, which practice the original  Taekwon-Do created by General Choi Hong Hi. We are affiliated to TSA Taekwon-Do South Africa which is affiliated to the I.T.F. International Taekwon-Do Federation under Grand Master Choi Jung Hwa, the son of the late founder.


We cover all aspects of this all round art. Being Sparring (kickboxing, ITF Tkd rules as well as other modes depending on the competition, incl K1 and continuous) , traditional (Patterns, floor work & set sparring), breaking (power & special  jumping high and far techniues) , Hosin Sul (self/street defence) &  it get you fit  in the process.


Having said this, all of these aspects overlap each other and together they form a complete martial art.


Competition is not compulsory but is great for the people interested in that aspect. One is still trained in competition aspects though.



Translated literally “Tae” stands for jumping or flying, to kick or smash with the foot. “Kwon” denotes the fist-chiefly to punch or destroy with the hand or fist. ”Do” means art or way. Thus taken collectively “Taekwon-Do” indicates the mental training and the techniques of unarmed combat for self defence as well as health, involving the skilled application of hand strikes, kicks, blocks and dodges with bare hands and feet to the rapid destruction of the moving opponents or opponents.

Of course, wrongly applied, Taekwon-Do can be a lethal weapon. Therefore mental training must always be stressed to prevent the student from misusing it.

Incessant training is essential to keep oneself in top form and physical condition. In training, all the muscles of the human body will be used.


It will be possible to harness all available power generated by every muscular contraction. This will be delivered to a human target to where the most vulnerable points or vital spots are located.


At this point, it is necessary to remind you that this art of self-defence is specifically designed for swift retaliation against a moving aggressor.


Similarly by using the attackers force of momentum, the slightest push is all that is needed to upset your opponent’s equilibrium and topple the person.


With consistent training these actions will become automatic. They become conditioned reflexes.


Hours spent on training will not be wasted; for surely you will reap the reward in the form of speedy reactions and devastating blows which will rain down upon your enemy or in any case to save a life if and when a need arises.


Even if Taekwon-Do is practiced for the sake of exercise alone, the enjoyment derived will justify the time invested and spent. As an exercise, it is equally suitable for old and young, male and female.
